Why we are choosing Jeep?

Why we are choosing Jeep?

From our second-hand research, we found..

From our second-hand research, we found..

1

We wan to do some for off-road vehicles, and Jeep’s iconic, stylized identity has made it a symbol of off-road adventure.

2

While physical buttons are essential off-road, Jeep’s current layout lacks logic and usability.

3

Its infotainment system remains outdated—complex, unintuitive, and virtually unchanged for a decade.

4

Key data like terrain mode and pitch/roll angle are visually deprioritized, reducing situational awareness.

To prove those problems are true, we test drove a Jeep Wrangler and had interview with Jeep owners.

Jeep's off-road capabilities have always been excellent, but the layout of their physical buttons has always been messy. I have to stare at them for a long time every time, and the interface is always difficult to use during off-road trips.

Their interface design is very messy. Many of the functional designs are either hard to find or incomprehensible. The layout of the central control system is also very unreasonable. I need time to understand many of its functions.

This led us to decide that we will not only improve their Infotainment System, also the design of the entire center Console based on the original Jeep design

NEW DESIGN SYSTEM

The current Jeep Infotainment System‘s classification of functions is very confusing.

The current Jeep Infotainment System‘s classification of functions is very confusing.

To solve this problem, we are going to divide the interface into three categories.

And for off-road vehicles, navigation and off-road would be the most important part.

In daily urban driving scenarios, users can listen to music while using the navigation function. They can personalize the widgets they want and display them in combination on this interface.

NAVIGATION

We rebuilt the map system from the ground up to deliver a bold, distinctive experience—featuring a new visual style and advanced view modes like terrain and topographic overlays.

What if the user need to use GPS navigation while off-roading?

Split Screen

We introduced a split-view interface, enabling simultaneous access to critical data streams like the map and drivetrain.

Real-time Feedback

We also introduced a universal pop-up system tied to physical controls.
When users adjust any dynamic chassis settings, contextual windows appear instantly, delivering real-time, highly visible feedback.

The main problem with the current system is the unclear grouping.

So we managed to keep the original design and features, but redesign the grouping.

What I learned from this project?

What I learned from this project?

1

This is the first time I have strictly carried out an improvement project based on the brand. I have learned how to make improvements based on the keep original design style during the design process.

2

This was my first project where I made a one-to-one model for evaluation. During the process, I encountered many difficulties and also learned the importance of using prototypes to evaluate products.

3

I learned from my teammate the importance of designing the design system first in design process.
